Shelburne Farms and Meach Cove Farm Drive and Ride Event of GSCA was held September 19-24, 2015, in Shelburne, Vermont.

Shelburne Inn Carriage Entrance

This year the event was held at two abutting locations, Shelburne Farms and the Meach Cove Farm. The Coach barn at Shelburne Farms has 9 stalls available. With miles of dirt roads, Shelburne Farms is open to carriage driving only, by special permission to Granite State Carriage Association. Meach Cove Farm offers several miles of roads for driving and also horseback riding.ShelburneInnDollHouseThe children's room at the Shelburne Inn

This was the first time both riders and drivers were able to attend the event in Shelburne, VT. Camping was permitted in trailers at the Meach Cove Farm; many folks found lodging in the area. There were lots of scheduled activities at both locations.

Sallyann Gerelli quotes: “This doll house is just fabulous!   We all thoroughly enjoyed "High Tea" and the tour of the Inn with wonderful view of Lake Champlain and then we went on a tour of the Breeding Barn!”

Per Herb and Suzie:  “We had a wonderful time and terrific weather driving around Shelburne Farms. We look forward to this event which is so relaxing and brings us back to when this was a typical vacation event during the carriage era.”

Plus the group enjoyed a special guided tour of the Shelburne Museum carriage collection at the Horseshoe Barn, HB Annex and the Round Barn. The Museum exhibits about 225 carriages and horse-drawn vehicles, including sleighs, stagecoaches, and commercial wagons. Most date from the late 19th to early 20th centuries, and nearly every type of vehicle used in New England at that time is represented.
